Fleeing suspect damages police car

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A short police chase early Tuesday left an IMPD squad car damaged.

According to police, an officer saw a driver committing a traffic violation at West 30th Street and Georgetown Road shortly after midnight.

As the officer tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver reportedly took off, striking the police car. The damage was described as minor.

Police say a low speed chase ensued though a neighborhood, where the suspect vehicle drove into someone’s yard, striking a fence.

Police say the driver tried to run from that scene, but was caught a short distance away. Investigators say the driver is a habitual traffic offender with a suspended license.
