Man rescued from Kokomo fire dies

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A man rescued from a fire in Kokomo on Monday has died from his injuries, according to 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Kokomo Tribune.

Firefighters and police responded to the fire at an upstairs apartment at 408 S. Union St. around 4:10 p.m. Monday.

The Tribune reports that within two minutes of the call, four firefighters pulled Josh Paul, 28, out of the burning apartment. Paul was found unconscious with fire-related injuries. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital, where he later died.

Firefighters also rescued two dogs from the residence. One dog nearly died in the fire, but first responders were able to revive him.

A Kokomo firefighter sustained a minor injury during the fire, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to fire officials
