HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A Hamilton County jury has found the owners of a Fishers daycare guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Sandra and Daniel Wahl operated the Home Away from Home Daycare.  On June 20, 2013, a 20-month-old toddler died in their care.

The child was found wedged between the wall and the vertical bar of a swinging metal baby gate, according to court documents.

Although the coroner’s office ruled the death accidental, prosecutors believe the Wahl’s provided reckless supervision as a child care provider.

The jury deliberated for four hours, returning the verdict around 9:35 pm Wednesday.

Sentencing for the Wahl’s is June 12th.
