Person injured in southeast side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A person was injured in a shooting on the southeast side of Indianapolis Saturday night, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials confirm.

The shooting happened near South State Avenue and South Woodlawn Avenue around 9:40 p.m.

Police say a female victim was shot in the lower back and was awake and breathing.

Police say the patient was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. She is expected to recover from her injuries. The bullet entered at the trunk of the car.

According to a police report an 18-year-old was arrested.
