Police: Suspect shot in attempted robbery in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – Police said a man was shot after an attempted armed robbery at a Muncie liquor store Friday night.

According to Muncie Police Department Lt. Steve Cox, police were called to Fifteenth-Hoyt Liquor Store on Muncie’s south side at 11:17 p.m.

Cox said the suspect who initiated the robbery was shot.

A store employee suffered minor injuries during a physical confrontation with the suspect, according to police.

Police said the suspect underwent surgery following the shooting. As of Saturday morning, there was no update on his condition.

Cox said officials were still trying to piece together what happened during the incident.
