Two injured in Boone Co. motorcycle crash

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police dispatchers in Boone County say two people were taken to the hospital Saturday evening after a motorcycle crash on Interstate 65.

It happened in the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 140 mile marker.

Dispatchers said around 7 p.m. two people on a motorcycle were heading northbound on I-65 when they crashed. Police say Chad Gibson, 36, of Frankfort, was driving the motorcycle. When Gibson exited at State Road 32 he rolled the motorcycle several times. Gibson and his passenger, Tristan Stofer, 31, of Lebanon were ejected from the bike.  Neither one was wearing a helmet.

No other vehicles were involved.

Police said the two patients on the motorcycle were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. Both were transported with serious injuries, but were not life-threatening.

Investigators say a high rate of speed and alcohol contributed to the incident. The crash is being investigated by the Boone County FACT Team.

Dispatchers said the nearby exit ramp to State Road 32 was restricted. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
