INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Central Indiana veterans told their stories about dealing with veterans affairs on Monday night.

I-Team 8 Chief Investigative Reporter Karen Hensel attended the meeting at the American Legion Hall. More than 120 people packed the room.

The American Legion held town hall meetings across the county in the wake of an ongoing VA scandal. Dozens of veterans waited in line to speak about the good and the bad.

“I always knew I never wanted to be admitted to the VA because the way I was treated on the first floor. There was no way I was going to the second floor,” said Pat Williams.

“I think it’s the best VA, and I would fight for you in Washington, D.C.,” another veteran said.

The American Legion had five service officers on hand, so as each vet spoke, they were able to get immediate help.

Members of four Indiana congressional offices were also on site. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
