Silver Alert issued for 87-year-old man

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Silver Alert has been issued for an 87-year-old man.

The Lawrence Police Department is investigating the man’s disappearance from Lawrence Manor Healthcare Center in Indianapolis. Indianapolis Fire Department and Lawrence Fire Department are helping in the search.

87-year-old Theodore Johnson was last seen at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday at the facility.

He is described as a black male, 5 foot 8 inches, slender build, wearing a blue, black, and white plaid shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

According to the facility, Johnson left the building through a window and was seen in the area of 46th Street and Post Road. Johnson suffers from Alzheimer’s and may be disoriented.

Crews were searching in the area of 45th and Post mid-Tuesday morning.

Officials say they used a grid search pattern to search areas within a 2-3 mile radius before adjusting to a wider grid. About 16 teams of two were on foot and in vehicles conducting the search.

Tuesday afternoon, crews completed their Urban Search for Johnson. On Wednesday, officials said they had not received any confirmed sightings of Johnson.
