CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a semi driver is in the hospital after his semi caught fire Monday night.  The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Monday as he drove on I-65 in Clinton County.

33-year-old Tremayne D. Whitehead was driving when he noticed smoke started filling the cab of his truck.  When Whitehead pulled over, he saw flames coming from the semi.  He tried to put the fire out, but decided to call 911 for help.  When emergency crews arrived, they say the semi was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but the truck is a total loss.

Whitehead was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort, Indiana, and is being treated for smoke inhalation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
