INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Chip Ganassi Racing took center stage, dominating the top of the speed charts, during Friday’s final Indy 500 practice.
Tony Kanaan turned the quickest lap with a time of 227.838 mph, followed in second by his teammate Scott Dixon with a lap of 227.773 mph.
“We knew we had a good car,” said Kanaan. “I wasn’t concerned with where we were going to end up today on the speed charts. It was more about how good the car felt in traffic, and we’re happy.”
“Over a long run, our car seems to be pretty consistent,” added Dixon. “[I] feel confident right now, but race can be totally different.”
There was only one incident in the morning tune-up. Sage Karam ran wide off Turn 4, making slight contact.
“It was a heck of a save,” said Karam. “It should’ve been a lot worse than what it was, but thankfully it was okay.”
