Motorcyclist killed after being run over by tractor in Brown County

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH)  – Police said a motorcyclist was killed in Brown County Friday afternoon after he was run over by a tractor.

According to police, Louis T. Sitter, 49, of Greenwood, was driving southbound on Saltcreek Road, south of Brown Hill Road, when he lost control. Police said Sitter and his motorcyclist slid left of the centerline and underneath a John Deere Motor Grader that was driving northbound on Saltcreek Road.

The Brown County Highway Department tractor was driven by John Rodgers, 37, of Morgantown. Police said Rodgers tried to stop, but could not avoid running over the motorcycle and Sitter.

Rodgers was not injured in the crash.

Seatbelts and helmets were being used at the time of the crash, according to police.

Indiana State Police officers said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
