LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — An 87-year-old man who had been missing since early Tuesday morning was found safe Friday morning.

The Silver Alert that had been issued for Theodore Johnson was canceled at the request of the Lawrence Police Department. Gary Woodruff with Lawrence Police says Johnson was found in the 8700 block of East 46th Street around 9 a.m. Friday.

Woodruff said Johnson was found near the Lawrence Manor Healthcare Center, where he disappeared from around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. Woodruff says it appears Johnson was trying to make his way back there.

Johnson was found in between homes by a neighbor. Woodruff says he was sleeping and covered by a blanket.

Johnson is OK, and listed in stable condition. Police say he was dehydrated, and taken to the VA Hospital for observation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
