Indiana soldiers return home from Kuwait

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Some Indiana soldiers made it home from Kuwait on Saturday just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Indiana National Guardsmen of Company C, 2-238th General Support Aviation Battalion had been deployed for nearly a year.

Friends, family and loved ones greeted the soldiers at the Indiana International Airport Saturday for a long-awaited hug and kiss.

“Total exhilaration, knowing I’m home where I belong. Just a great feeling,” Sgt. Kevin Sutton said.

“It’s been a while. You hate being away from your family and loved ones, but we know that what we do is important so we can take pride in it,” Sgt. Brady Closser said.

While deployed, the company went on 66 medevac missions, logged more than 1,600 flight hours and trained more than 300 people in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
