INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Tens of thousands of people headed downtown on Saturday for the IPL 500 Festival Parade.

From the favorite inflatables to the colorful floats, dancing, and singing, the parade once again drew crowds of fans for miles in downtown Indianapolis.

This year’s theme was “Feel the Rhythm of May.”

There were sights and sounds from cultures around the world, plus long-time local traditions such as the Indianapolis Police Motorcycle Drill Team and Purdue University’s All-American Marching Band. Purdue’s band has been hosting the Indy 500 since 1919.

The 33 IndyCar drivers were also at the parade Saturday, along with many celebrities such as Mark Cuban, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, and Olympian Nick Goepper.

“This is my first-ever Indy 500 parade, let alone the race, so I’m really excited for an awesome weekend,” Goepper said.

“Really excited to be here, really excited to be a part of the parade. What an honor, what a beautiful day,” Luck said.

24-Hour News-8’s Brook Martin and racing analyst Derek Daly joined Dustin Grove in hosting the parade, which you can watch in its entirety Saturday night at 8 p.m. on 24-Hour News 8. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
