INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After a busy double-race weekend, Kurt Busch was named the 2014 Sunoco Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year.

The Andretti Autosport driver was the fastest qualifier (12th) and highest finisher (6th) among the seven rookies in this year’s Indianapolis 500. It was the first Verizon IndyCar Series race of his career.

In addition to his $423,889 in race winnings, Busch earned a $25,000 bonus from Sunoco.

Busch performed double duty this past weekend. Immediately after finishing the Indy 500, he flew to drive in the Coca-Cola 600.

He completed more than 906 miles in his quest to be the second driver to complete the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. He said he’s eager to try ‘The Double’ again.
