FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two people died in a car crash in Fort Wayne early Tuesday morning.
Fort Wayne police responded to a call of a single vehicle crash on Butler Road near Butler Court just after 3:30 a.m.
Investigators said the car was traveling eastbound on Butler Road when it lost control around a curve. The vehicle left the road and traveled about 100 feet before striking a tree and coming to a stop. The car then burst into flames. Firefighters extinguished the flames and found one victim inside the car.
A second victim was found outside the car, but it’s unclear if the victim was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said speed is a likely factor in the crash. Investigators are still trying to determine any other possible contributing factors.
Police said one victim was a man, but the second victim was not identifiable. No names have been released.
The crash is under investigation.
