Victim of deadly east side shooting identified

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police have released the name of a man who was killed in a double shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Monday.

Officers were called to the 400 block of North Denny Street, in between East Michigan and East New York streets, shortly after 4 p.m.

When police arrived they found two men with apparent gunshot wounds. EMS officials arrived shortly after and pronounced 19-year-old Christopher Pippen of Indianapolis dead. The other victim was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.

Detectives said on Monday they believe this was an isolated incident and not a random act. They are gathering information and taking witness statements to determine a motive.
