Passenger airlifted after truck rear-ends tractor on US 31

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A tractor hauling tanks of anhydrous ammonia was rear-ended by a truck Friday afternoon on U.S. 31, according to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Kokomo Tribune.

According to Indiana State Police, the truck rear-ended the tanks. Police said the tanks were carrying volatile farm chemicals, which leaked onto the roadway.

A passenger in the truck was airlifted to a local hospital. ISP said the driver was also injured, but police weren’t sure if the driver was taken to a hospital.

The status of the tractor driver was unknown as of Friday evening.
