Three arrested after police find drugs, guns, $20K in home

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested three men on Friday morning after finding drugs, $20,000 in cash, and more than 30 guns inside of a Bartholomew County home.

According to Indiana State Police, officers received a tip that possible drug activity was going on at a home located at 4110 West County Road 500 N., near Columbus.

Police said Thomas C. Burton, 53, lived at the home. They went to serve a misdemeanor warrant to Burton on Friday around 11 a.m.

After receiving a search warrant for the home, police found more than 20 pounds of marijuana, about a half pound of cocaine, methamphetamine, more than $20,000 in cash, and more than 30 guns.

Police arrested Burton on possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and criminal mischief charges.

Also arrested at the home were Tony C. Burton, 52, of Edinburgh, and Osbert Ovie Simpson, 77, of Edinburgh.

Burton was charged with possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance. Simpson was charged with visiting a common nuisance.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, additional charges could be filed and other arrests could be made as the investigation continues.
