INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – PopCon kicked off this weekend in downtown Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center.
It s the first pop-culture convention hosted by the circle city. The event focuses on comics, video grames and independent artists, publishers and writers.
“Sort of geeky sub culture that you always see, but you’re always a little afraid to participate in. So, if you’re that person that loves going to GenCon restaurants to see all the people in costume, PopCon is the Con where we welcome you in and actually invite you to participate in the culture,” Shawn Smith, Pop-Con communications director, said.
The convention also brings in people who have been successful publishing their own content.
Organizers are planning on making Indy PopCon a tradition each weekend after Memorial Day.
The event runs until Sunday.
