INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police have released the name of a 79-year-old man who was killed after three men in a stolen vehicle crashed into his car during a police chase.

It happened around 10:20 a.m. Sunday at West 16th Street and East Riverside Drive. Police say Eskenazi Health security tried to stop a Toyota Camry, which matched the description of a car that was reported stolen earlier Sunday morning. The driver refused to stop and led security on a three-block chase west on 16th Street.

The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into 79-year-old George Porter’s car in the intersection of Riverside Drive.

Detectives confirm that one suspect was arrested and preliminarily charged with robbery. Police say additional charges and arrests are likely, as the investigation is ongoing.

The suspects’ names have not yet been released. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
