DIY Liquid Sidewalk Chalk and Stencils

Ashlie Miller from The Paint Cellar shows us how to make your own liquid sidewalk chalk and stencils.

Materials needed:

Corn Starch

Baking Soda

Water Bottles

White Vinegar

Assorted Food Coloring

Pour equal parts baking soda and corn starch into a water bottle until it’s 2/3s full.  Add several drops of food coloring (you can always add more if you want it darker).  Fill the rest of the way with water.  Shake to mix or stir with knife or long handled spoon (whatever you can fit inside your bottle). Fill a separate bottle with vinegar.

Squirt liquid chalk on sidewalk. Once you have your pretty design then squirt the vinegar onto it and watch the magic happen! provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
