INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — No one was hurt when a truck crashed into a garage on the northeast side of Indianapolis Monday night.

Crews responded to a home in the 7900 block of Copperfield Drive shortly after 10 p.m. on the report of a structure collapse.

When fire officials responded they found a truck had left the roadway and crashed into the garage. The 53-year-old driver of the truck briefly left the scene and went to a nearby relative’s house, but was located by IMPD and returned to the scene.

IMPD officers tested the driver at the scene with a PBT. Police say the driver admitted to having one alcoholic beverage earlier in the evening, but officers determined he was not over the limit.

Police believe the driver disregarded a stop sign about 120 feet away from the home. The crash was ruled an accident, and the driver was released.

No injuries were reported. Two cars in the garage were damaged. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
