WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Subaru of Indiana Automotive unveiled its latest model in the Outback series Monday.
The fifth generation model took nearly three years to design and build. The new design includes blind spot protection, rear view cameras and a new driver assist system.
SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday said the new safety additions will enhance what was already one of the safest vehicles in its class.
“We’re very confident with the safety ratings of this vehicle, that it’s going to be the case too. Our associates know when they build a vehicle, they taking great pride in knowing that what they build can actually save a life one day and is going to be reliable,” said Easterday.
The new vehicle will also set the bar for what could be a historic fiscal year for SIA.
Easterday said SIA is scheduled to make more than 300,000 vehicles by March 31, 2015.
