Vintage car races take center stage at IMS

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Vintage cars are taking over Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend for the first ever Brickyard Invitational.

It’s a series of races on the road course that will be highlighted by a Pro-Am on Sunday, which will feature 26 Indianapolis 500 starters including 1992 and 1994 winner Al Unser Jr., 1996 winner Buddy Lazier, Lyn St. James and Davey Hamilton.

“It’s going to be fabulous. We’re going the wrong way in my mind, but we’ll figure that out pretty quick,” said St. James.

“People love this place. It doesn’t matter what it is, IndyCar race, stock car race, it’s the speedway,” said Hamilton. “There’s something about this place that attracts people.”

Action starts on the track on Friday and runs through Sunday.
