Driver crashes into Kohl’s

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The entrance to Kohl’s at the Tippecanoe Mall is shattered after a driver crashes into it.

The Lafayette Police Department said the crash happened at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at the entrance facing Sagamore Parkway.

Officers told News 18 the driver, Peggy Meyer, 52, of Wolcott, Ind., accelerated at the end of a parking aisle and crashed into the building.

LPD said Meyer was transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East for minor injuries.

After further investigation, Lafayette police officers said a medical issue may have caused Meyer to crash.

The city engineering department was on scene to assess the damage.

Kohl’s will remain open, but officers are asking shoppers to avoid that entrance.
