Ind. man arrested in Joplin, Mo. prostitution sting

JOPLIN, Mo. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man was arrested on May 30 for soliciting prostitution during a sting operation by the Joplin Police Department.

According to the department, investigators conducted a prostitution sting at a hotel in Joplin that resulted in charges being filed against eleven people.

During the operation, two women were arrested along with nine men for soliciting prostitution. One man was arrested for resisting law enforcement.

All eleven are facing misdemeanor charges, including Michael Rees, 52, Fort Wayne. Rees was charged and booked in the Joplin City Jail.

The remaining ten who were charged, include:

  • Shawn Sweeney, 45 year old male from Joplin—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
  • Marc Schroeder, 45 year old male from Pittsburg, KS—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
  • Travis Sprenkle, 38 year old male from Carthage—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
  • Mark Strunk, 43 year old male from Joplin—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
  • Douglas Willette, 46 year old male from Pitts, TX—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution and Resisting Arrest
  • Lisa Allison, 36 year old female from Joplin—Arrested for Prostitution
  • Taylor Spruce, 25 year old male from Wyandotte, OK—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
  • Justin Berberich, 28 year old male from Pittsburg, KS—Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution
