KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A 74-year-old woman graduated from Kokomo High School on Friday, according to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Kokomo Tribune.

Vickie Turley earned 15 high school credits before dropping out her junior year more than 50 years ago. Turley told The Tribune her family had very little money so she thought earning extra money was more important than school.

Turley eventually got married, had five kids, moved overseas for her husband’s Air Force career and then moved back.

She worked for decades at Delco and then found a job in Kokomo Schools working with Head Start students.

Turley was among the 439 students who graduated Friday. She was part of the school’s Twilight School program.
