INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – 24-Hour News 8 has new evidence that the violence in Indianapolis isn’t scaring everyone.

This week, Visit Indy, the Indianapolis tourism office asked meeting planners to describe Indianapolis.

These are the top five words they used:

  • Walkable
  • Connected
  • Easy
  • Affordable
  • Safe

Those results compiled on Friday are very similar to last year’s survey of people who could put conventions here. In 2013, the list described Indianapolis as:

  • Clean
  • Safe
  • Walkable
  • Friendly
  • Affordable

Visit Indy said like last year, the 2014 survey of meeting planners showed their biggest concern was about downtown panhandling. To them, that is a safety issue.

In May, Visit Indy told 24-Hour News 8: “In the last 24 months, there have been 14 different conventions who have said “No” to Indianapolis” and they “cited panhandling as one of their main concerns.”
