MARION COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Ashely Layman was crowned Miss Marion County 2014 on Sunday night.
“More special than anything, I can’t put into words. just over the moon,” Layman said after she was crowned.
The pageant was held at the Flanner & Buchanan Community Life Center Sunday.
Each contest was required to be an active member of at least one organization, such as Girl Scouts, church groups, 4-H, etc. The girls had to be between 16 and 21 years old to compete in the pageant.
Pageant contestants were judged on the following criteria: business wear, evening gown, on stage question, and interview. The contestants also had to submit an essay before the pageant.
Layman will go on to compete at the Miss Indiana State Fair pageant in January.
The state fair queen will then spend her summer visiting over 30 county fairs, festivals and queen pageants promoting the Indiana State Fair before serving as the Official Hostess of the State Fair.
