TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – One Vietnam Veteran is well on his way to getting the home of his dreams.

“Well last year the board of the Habitat board of directors decided that they would designate our next build for a veteran’s build,” explained Annette Houchin, executive director. “We serve the low income families who otherwise couldn’t afford to purchase a house. We sell it to them at a zero percent interest loan at a very low, affordable price.”

And News 10′s photojournalist David Essex was there to capture the moment.

“Every veteran has a hard time coming home, especially the veterans who are, you know, handicapped and lose arms and legs and that sort of thing,” stated Daniel Wakefield, Vietnam Veteran. “We all serve our nation because we love it and some paid the ultimate price by their lives so it’s important to think of all of them at this time.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
