COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A local resident was recognized for his actions after saving his friend from a burning home.

On May 28th Brad Eubanks was traveling to see his friend Edward Brune when he, and Officer John Searle found that Brune’s home was on fire.

Both Eubanks and Officer Searle tried to enter the home by kicking in the back and front door, but fire kept them from entering the home. A window was then removed to pull Brune out.

Eubanks received burns on his hands.

The Columbus Fire Department honored Eubanks on June 2nd for his heroic actions. Eubanks shared he has a greater appreciation for what firefighters do every day on the job.
