JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Services for Jason Moran, a 17-year-old from Franklin who died in a swimming accident in Edinburgh, have been planned.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 11 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Franklin Community High School gymnasium. School officials say please enter through the athletic entrance, doors 14, 15 and 16 — located on the west side of the building. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, and will be a private service for family members only.
Moran’s body was found Sunday morning after he went missing in the Big Blue River in Edinburgh on Friday.
Police said Moran, Sarah Mae Mclevish, 16, Michael Chadbourne, 16, Trent Crabb, 17, and Mark Nally, 18, all of Franklin, were swimming in the river when Mclevish went over the dam.
The four teens then went to help the girl. Nally and Crabb are doing well. On Sunday, Mclevish and Chadbourne were in the hospital listed in critical condition.
All of the teens went to Franklin Community High School. Students showed their support by posting photos and words of encouragement to social media during the search efforts.
An official fund has been set up on behalf of all five families. The account has been named, FCHS Family Fund and will be held at Heartland Community Bank, a Horizon Bank Company. For anyone wishing to make a donation, checks can be made payable to FCHS Family Fund and dropped off at any Heartland Community or Horizon Bank location or mailed to Franklin Community High School at 2600 Cumberland Drive, Franklin, IN. 46131.
