INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man will spend nearly 60 years in prison for the murder of another man in 2012.
Larry Anderson was sentenced to 58 years in prison on Tuesday. A jury found him guilty of murder for the November 2012 shooting that left one man dead.
Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bridgewood Court on Nov. 10 after receiving a number of calls about shots fired. When officers were heading to the scene, dispatchers received more calls that someone had been shot.
Police arrived and found Christopher Roberts unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said they believed Roberts walked up to a black SUV that had parked nearby. Shortly after walking up to the vehicle he was shot several times. Investigators had said Roberts may have known Anderson.
Detectives arrested and charged then-19-year-old Anderson for the murder of Roberts. Police said Anderson was already in jail on unrelated charges at the time he was served that warrant.
