INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Carmel man was sentenced on Tuesday, for avoiding to pay income taxes.
Joseph Scott, 54, was sentenced to six months in a residential community center for failing to pay his companies taxes.
Scott did not prepare federal tax returns for his company JS&A, which he was to provide consulting services to the clients and run the business.
Over the years he was able to under report a large amount of his income from his failed returns for JS&A. It was estimated he owed nearly $600,000 in taxes.
Scott must serve three years of supervised released, one of those years he will be electronically monitored after he completes his six month sentence.
