Man sentenced for failing to pay income taxes

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Carmel man was sentenced on Tuesday, for avoiding to pay income taxes.

Joseph Scott, 54, was sentenced to six months in a residential community center for failing to pay his companies taxes.

Scott did not prepare federal tax returns for his company JS&A, which he was to provide consulting services to the clients and run the business.

Over the years he was able to under report a large amount of his income from his failed returns for JS&A. It was estimated he owed nearly $600,000 in taxes.

Scott must serve three years of supervised released, one of those years he will be electronically monitored after he completes his six month sentence. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
