FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) – The resignation of a coach charged with child seduction, teacher cuts and high school renovations were all topics of discussion at Tuesday’s school board meeting in Frankfort.

Head boys basketball coach Tom Weeks has been charged with six counts of child seduction.

Community Schools of Frankfort Superintendent Don DeWeese says Weeks is on unpaid suspension since the incident has taken place.

Board members were expecting to receive Weeks’ resignation Tuesday but DeWeese said he hadn’t received it. DeWeese said if the resignation isn’t in by the board’s next meeting later this month, the board will act.

“His legal counsel had said, ‘Well we can come to an agreement and he will resign,’” said DeWeese. “So we expected to have that letter today and we just didn’t get it. I felt like our public needed an explanation. If we do not get a resignation, we will act on the termination.”

The board approved plans to eliminate six positions which included laying off four paraprofessionals. As for the other two positions, DeWeese explained that one teacher resigned and the other took another position in the district.

Also Tuesday night, the board looked at possible renovation plans for Frankfort High School. Architects presented five options ranging from adding four classrooms to demolishing the oldest part of the school and rebuilding.

The board is scheduled to discuss the options at its meeting on June 24.
