ISP inspect commercial vehicles for spot in national competition

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — At the State Fairgrounds on Wednesday, there’s an unusual competition going on.

State troopers who inspect commercial buses, trucks and tankers are trying to out-inspect each other.

It’s the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Inspector Challenge.

During the challenge, the inspectors may be asked to identify anything from paperwork problems to faulty hazardous material tanks.

The competition is set to wrap up later on Wednesday. The winner will go on to represent Indiana in a national competition later in summer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
