INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The family of a 21-year-old woman killed in March finally got the information they have been looking for.

Police say Shannon Kleeman was found dead in the basement of her step-mother’s home on Linwood Avenue at the end of March.

Now, police say they have a suspect in custody for the murder.

The Indianapolis Metro Police arrested 52-year-old Morice Ervin, of Indianapolis. Police arrested Ervin for murder and rape on Wednesday afternoon.

Ervin lived in a neighboring home when the murder took place.

Shannon’s older sibling went looking for her when she never came home after taking care of the dogs at her step-mother’s house while her step-mother was in the hospital.

Shannon’s older siblings took care of her, saying her parents had both passed away.

They say Shannon had a mild mental disorder with the emotions of a young teenage girl.

She graduated from Howe High School in 2012 at the age of 19.

The Marion County Coroner’s office says official cause of death was a shotgun wound to the head. Police say DNA aided in solving the case.
