Two arrested after east side chase

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police arrested two men who tried to run after leading officers on a car chase early Thursday.

Around 12:30 a.m. police say a driver refused to stop when they tried to pull the car over near Interstate 70 and Keystone Avenue. The police chase got as far as East Vermont Street and North Oriental.

That’s where police say the two bailed and ran from the scene. Police first caught the passenger and then caught the driver after he tried to get away in another car.

Back at the car the pair fled from, police say they found a gun and a garbage bag full of marijuana. A spokesperson with IMPD later confirmed to 24-Hour News 8 that the handgun belonged to the department.

Police say the case remains under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
