The Pacers continued to evaluate prospective talent on Friday ahead of this month’s NBA draft. Friday’s group included IU’s Will Sheehey, Louisville’s Russ Smith, Connecticut’s DeAndre Daniels, Weber State’s Davion Berry, San Diego State’s Xavier Thames and New Mexico’s Kendall Williams.
This is Sheehey’s fifth NBA workout; he’s also been to the Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors.
“We just competed a lot more in this one than previous ones,” said Sheehey of how the Pacers’ workout compares. “That’s what I like to do.”
Getting drafted will be an uphill battle for Sheehey, who averaged 11.4 ppg and 4.0 rebounds his senior season. However, he’s confident he’ll be able to play professionally somewhere.
“I’m going to bring the same consistency every day,” said Sheehey. “I’m a guy that’s going to practice hard every single day. I’m going to be the guy that’s in the best shape of anyone on the team, and I’m going to make shots.”
Sheehey told us he has five more workouts set up ahead of the June 26th NBA draft.
