INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — It was a beautiful day to be outside and that’s exactly what hundreds of people did Saturday evening for the 10th Annual Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma.
Participants were sure to put on the sunscreen before starting the five mile run, the one mile fun walk and the 5k walk and run.
The event helps in the fight against skin cancer. Every year about 120,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with melanoma.
“Many people don’t realize one American dies every hour so we want people to know this to really understand how serious this disease can be if it isn’t treated and detected early,” said Anita Day, co-founder and executive director of Outrun the Sun.
WISH-TV and Gr8 Health were part of the event. 24-Hour News 8’s Lauren Lowrey served as emcee.
