INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A contracted employee killed in Citizen Energy’s Deep Rock Tunnel Connector died of a head injury, the Marion County coroner’s office said Monday.

Isaac Simpson, 25, died about 7 miles into the tunnel Friday morning. The tunnel is part of a larger sewer project by Citizens.

Simpson, a contractor with SKJV, died of a crushing blunt force traumatic injury of the head, according to the coroner. His death was ruled accidental.

The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or IOSHA, is investigating the death — which is standard procedure in workplace deaths.
