ANDERSON, Ind. (Herald Bulletin) – An Anderson sewer department foreman stumbled across a 1966 class ring during a job recently. With the help of Facebook and some determination, Kelley was able to return the ring to its owner, who hadn’t seen the ring for 40 years.
24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Herald Bulletin report Rich Kelley found the Anderson High School ring while doing sewer line repair at a home on Third Street in Anderson. The old high school ring had a date of 1966 and the initials of R.S.
Kelley posted a picture of the ring on Facebook, where Dan Simmons saw it. Simmons pulled out an old AHS yearbook and called the first person with the initials of R.S. The first person Simmons called was Anderson resident Ronnie Siefert.
“It was surprising that the first person we called turned out to be the owner,” Simmons said. “He said he hadn’t seen that ring in 40 years.”
“His ex-wife lost it many years ago,” Kelley said. “You could tell it was a little emotional for him.”
