Services set for worker killed in tunnel

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Memorial services are scheduled for William Isaac Simpson, a contracted employee killed in Citizen Energy’s Deep Rock Tunnel Connector.

According to the coroner, Simpson died of a head injury, when he was about 7 miles into the tunnel Friday.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 4 Cicero United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the William Isaac Simpson Memorial Fund.

The Deep Rock Tunnel Connector is the first part of the broader DigIndy project, which will be a 25-mile network of sewage tunnels.
