INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Hoosiers got their chance to ride The Pacers Bike Share Program with Pacers point guard George Hill.

“Pacers Bike share has done a good job of putting these things out here to let everyone stay fit, stay in shape and most importantly have fun,” said Hill who did a one-hour loop around The Cultural Trail.

Also on Wednesday riders were allowed to ride for free by using the Promo code 3333 at any kiosk.

Beyond Wednesday’s free ride, Hill says he plans on doing this again.

“I think this is something we can do once a week just to have fun and bring the whole community together,” said Hill.

The ride-along came as the program announced that ridership is surpassing expectations.

“We knew it would be a hit with people but we are honestly, pleasantly surprised with how successful its been,” said Karen Hailey, the Executive Director of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail which runs the bikeshare program.

Since launching in late April there have already been over 13,000 rides

While helmets aren’t required, riders are encouraged to wear one.

There are over 250 bikes available, at 25 stations across downtown.
