COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) – Detectives say tips have led them to finding the gun used in Monday night’s shooting.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the neck as a result of the incident, in the 1200 block of 8th Street around 9 p.m. Monday.

Columbus officers tell The Republic, they arrested 18-year-old Jimmie Dewayne Hair Jr., Columbus, on a preliminary charge of attempted murder in the case.

Police originally believed the small caliber gun may have been discarded near the crime scene, but say they didn’t find the weapon in that area.
