Cat killings prompt search for suspects

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Martinsville police are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspects who have killed 30 cats. The majority of those killed were stomped to death.

According to police, the cats were killed throughout the past few months in the neighbor near South Home Avenue and East South Street. Authorities say the majority of the cats were strays or outside cats.

Police are working with the Morgan County Humane Society to find the culprits. They believe teenagers are responsible for the killings.

“They should be in jail. They should be in jail really,” said Martin Jones, who lives in the community.

“They should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. It’s terrible to mistreat an animal,” said Melissa Walker, who also lives in the neighborhood.

Police said those responsible will face animal cruelty charges.
