INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The man police say stole a car with a toddler in the back seat has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Police say Donald Nixon took a neighbor’s car, with the woman’s 2-year-old daughter in the vehicle. They later found the girl at an apartment complex 11 miles away.
The toddler was OK and reunited with her mother, Emily Voss.
Investigators say Nixon came up to Emily Voss in her driveway and asked to borrow her phone. She offered to let him sit in her car to stay warm. Her little girl was in the back seat, strapped into her car seat. That’s when Nixon drove off in the car.
Donald Nixon pleaded guilty to charges of criminal confinement and auto theft in the case.
