WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH)  – A $20 million indoor sports facility is coming to Grand Park Sports Campus, Westfield officials announced at Saturday’s grand opening ceremony.

“We are thrilled to announce this partnership between the City of Westfield and Holladay Properties,” says Mayor Andy Cook. “An indoor facility will make Grand Park a tourism destination year round. Since Grand Park opened in March, developers have been inquiring about building hotels and restaurants around the park, this will solidify those interests.”

The 335,000-square foot building will house three full-size professional soccer fields that can be used for recreational play and competitive play for all field sports. The building will also have office space, locker rooms, meeting rooms and a restaurant.

Jonathan Byrd’s will be the official catering company of the indoor soccer facility. The restaurant will offer family-friendly dining with several food stations throughout the restaurant.

The park already features 26 diamonds for baseball and softball and 31 fields for soccer and lacrosse. The city broke ground on Grand Park in 2011. It is now, Mayor Cook said, the largest sports park in the country, if not the world.

Grand opening events at Grand Park kicked off on Friday. A carnival atmosphere filled the park, complete with a ferris wheel and concerts. Click here for more information on grand opening events.

The massive sports complex is located at 191st Street and Spring Mill Road.
