Home a total loss after Saturday morning fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Firefighters responded to a two story residence fire on Saturday at 3:23 a.m.

When the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived heavy smoke fully engulfed the home in the 3300 block of Newhart Street.

The fire took about an hour to contain.

According to neighbors the former residents were no longer living in the home.

Damage was estimated at $80,000. The home is a total loss.

IFD and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police will investigate the cause.
